Volunteer Tutors Wanted!

The Community Adult Learning Program (CALP) at NorQuest College is looking for volunteers to support our Volunteer Tutor Program in Whitecourt, Woodlands County and Lac Ste. Anne County.
Volunteer tutors support adult foundational learners (at or below about a grade 9 level) one-on-one or in small groups, to help them reach their goals in reading, writing, math, basic digital skills and/or English Language Learning.

Currently, we are seeing a significant increase in the need for tutoring in English Language Learning / ESL.

Tutoring may be in person or online/remote.

No previous tutoring experience required - training and resources are provided!

  • Approximately two hours per week for tutoring plus time for lesson planning  
  • Minimum six-month commitment

CALP Advisory Committee: Seeking Representatives from Lac Ste. Anne County

The CALP at NorQuest is recruiting community members from Lac Ste. Anne County to be part of our advisory committee.

We are seeking people who can join the committee to bring diverse voices from Lac Ste. Anne, including:

  • Indigenous and M├ętis voices
  • Business, employers and workforce development agencies
  • Social and human services agencies
  • Publically and/or privately funded educational institutions
  • Lifelong learners and/or those with lived experience of interrupted formal learning

The committee will meet for approximately 2 hours, up to 3 times a year, in person or online.

We are currently accepting expressions of interest, recommendations, or referrals for community-minded people with an interest in supporting adult learning.
